Ken Riemer, Attorney at LawKenneth J. Riemer has litigated civil disputes for over 20 years and has dedicated his practice to representing consumers in finance-related litigation in federal and state court, including class actions.

Legal Experience

Mr. Riemer's practices in the complex litigation and consumer rights areas.  He has extensive experience litigating consumer rights cases, including cases under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act, the Truth in Lending Act and the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act.  Mr. Riemer also represents Alabama consumers in cases involving wrongful foreclosure and other mortgage company abuses.

Mr. Riemer previously served as Trial Attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. While in Washington, Mr. Riemer served in the Environmental Enforcement Section of the Justice Department, filing cases against polluting companies all over the country. He received the Attorney General's Special Achievement for his service in recovering millions of dollars in fines and clean-up costs.

In 1994 he returned to his home town of Mobile, Alabama, where he joined the law firm of Sirote & Permutt, P.C., one of the largest law firms in the state.  At Sirote, Mr. Riemer was a litigation partner and primarily handled complex finance-related litigation.

In 2001, Mr. Riemer started his own firm in Mobile, dedicating his practice exclusively to the representation of consumers in consumer rights litigation.  In 2010, he joined forces with Earl Underwood to form Underwood & Riemer, PC.  The firm has offices in Mobile and Baldwin Counties and offers a wide range of consumer rights related legal services, including consumer bankruptcy.

He is admitted to practice before the United States Courts of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, the United States District Courts for the Southern District of Alabama, the Middle District of Alabama and the Northern District of Alabama.  He has also practiced before the Supreme Court of Alabama and the Alabama Court of Civil Appeals. He was recently appointed Special Deputy Attorney General in a consumer rights-related matter by the Alabama Attorney General.
